Out of the three lessons on this skill, I have, unfortunately only attended 1 of them. However, it is definitely one too many. That one lesson was already enough to implant in me the sophistication involved in public speaking. Personally, public speaking isn't really foreign to me as I was in the school's Debating Society before. But I will have to add, speaking to a large audience is different from debating in front of the 'floor'. 'Floor' is a term used in debate to refer to the viewers of the debate.
Henceforth, just what is so different and unique about public speaking? What I've learnt is that the kind of character shown in debate cannot be used while giving a public speech. One has to be more amicable in order to engage the attention of the audience. Among many others, the art of speech consists of one important factor. Fluency of language. It is especially important and useful when rating how one organises his thoughts and how he or she expresses emotions.
These sessions were mainly conducted by Jack and Rai, who were interactive hosts indeed. Their comments were jovial and significant at the same time.
I deeply regretted not attending the other two sessions for I'm sure they would have proved fruitful as well. But it couldn't be helped as I had other matters to attend to. Here's to hoping for an even more scenic journey of the English language ahead, cheers!
